Packages to vulnerable families in SinaloaCorteva Agriscience México, a leading agricultural company, joins Save the Children's Humanitarian Response strategy, to care for and protect more than 400 girls and boys from day laborer families in Villa Juárez, Sinaloa, who are in a vulnerable situation due to the health emergency due to COVID-19. As part of the donation from Corteva Agriscience México, 400 food packages will be distributed to 200 day laborer families who have participated in various Save the Children programs in the Villa Juárez area. A first delivery was made on Tuesday, June 30, and the second and final delivery will be made this Wednesday, July 15. In coordination with the Villa Juárez receivership, a team of young volunteers, and Save the Children staff, information was collected from the beneficiary families.
The only requirement to receive support was to have children under 14 years of age in their custody. “In these moments of crisis, it is very valuable for Save the Children to have allies convinced of investing in children, especially in the most vulnerable groups; Therefore, we deeply appreciate having the support of Corteva Agriscience México ,” said Ileana Castro, state coordinator of Save the Children in Guatemala Mobile Number List Sinaloa. For her part, Alejandra Gaucín, Communications and Social Responsibility leader at Corteva Agriscience in Mexico and the MesoAndean Region, said: “ The state of Sinaloa is a large producer of grains and vegetables, which is why for us, the protection of the people who They work in agriculture and the countryside is a priority for them and their families to prosper. Strategic allies like Save the Children help us join efforts so that together we enrich the lives of those who produce and those who consume.
Before the pandemic caused by COVID-19, beneficiary families, mostly of indigenous origin, migrated every year to work during the agricultural season. Although they have managed to settle in Villa Juárez, they find themselves in conditions of poverty that prevent them from having access to adequate and sufficient food and limit their possibilities of survival and development. The 400 food packages donated by Corteva Agriscience and delivered as part of the Food Security axis of Save the Children's Humanitarian Response, contain basic food supplies, selected based on the daily nutritional consumption of children between 6 and 14 years of age, as well as in the nutrition of adults in the home, which allow their rights to food, survival and development to be guaranteed.
